| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove voltage of high-voltage on-board electrical system. | ||
2 | Reduce vacuum in brake booster by depressing brake pedal several times. | ||
3 | Remove upper engine cover. | ||

4 | Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter. | ||
5 | Release electrical connector(1) and disconnect. | ||
6 | Remove bolts (2) . | Screw/bolt, bracket for electrical vacuum pump to timing case/crankcase | |
7 | Release vacuum line (3) at electric vacuum pump (M56) and detach. | ||
8 | Remove electric vacuum pump (M56) together with bracket. | The electric vacuum pump (M56) is only available as a replacement part together with the holder. | |
9 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
10 | Reset runtime of electric vacuum pump (M56) using diagnostic system. | If the electric vacuum pump (M56) was replaced. | |

11 | Perform brake test on test stand. | ||
