Remove/install

Drain transmission oil and collect in a suitable vessel

 Installation: Fill with transmission oil.



Loosen clamp at bellows (11) and push back bellows (11)

Remove bolts (13) on torque tube housing (12)



Pull back torque tube using a chain hoist

 Secure torque tube against slipping back.

Disconnect propeller shaft from output flange (2)

 Do not allow the propeller shaft to hang down but secure it as otherwise the brake lines will be overtensioned and will be damaged as a result.

 Install: Before installing the propeller shaft (2) at the output flange, the torque ball of the torque tube must be adjusted:

Adjust preload of torque tube to torque ball housing

Remove output flange (2)



Remove pneumatic connection from shift cylinder (6)

Remove bolts (14) from front axle output shaft housing (4)



Remove front axle output shaft housing (4) and remove needle roller bearing from drive gear

 Installation: Coat sealing surface of front axle output shaft housing (4) with sealing compound. Before installing the front axle output shaft housing (4), the axial play at the driven gear tapered roller bearing (9) must be determined and the corresponding spacer installed:



Determine axial play at driven gear tapered roller bearing of front axle output shaft

Check front axle output shaft for wear and damage

 Replace worn or damaged parts: 

Disassemble/assemble front axle output shaft

Check oil level in transmission and correct if necessary
