Remove/install

Remove engine cover

Detach fuel filter and place with attached lines to one side

When removing the glow plug (R9) on the cylinder 3.



Remove screw/bolt (1) and remove cover (2)

Disconnect electrical connection at fuel filter condensation sensor with heating element (B76/1)

Disconnect electrical connection at intake port shutoff actuator motor (M55)

Disconnect electrical connection at pressure regulating valve (Y74)

Disconnect electrical connection at exhaust pressure sensor (B60)

8

Disconnect electrical connection on the fuel pressure sensor (B4/7)

Disconnect glow plug electrical connection (X214)

Disconnect electrical connection at coolant temperature sensor (B11/4)

Disconnect electrical connection (5) for temperature sensor upstream of ATL (B19/11)

Detach vacuum line (4) for vacuum pump at connecting point and place to one side

Unclip cable duct (3) at the unclip shackles (arrows) and raise upwards

Detach electrical connections (6) from glow plugs (R9) using suitable pliers

15

Clean area around the glow plugs (R9) with compressed air

16

Remove glow plug (R9) and mark relative to the respective installation location


If the loosening torque of the glow plugs (R9) is greater than 25 Nm, it is recommended to bring the engine up to its operating temperature.
The glow plugs (R9) can tear off otherwise.

 Installation: For reuse of the glow plug (R9) install this again in the respectively marked installation location.

Clean

Clean glow plug wells if necessary
