Secure vehicle on vehicle lift

Remove oil pan

Remove oil suction pipe

Remove oil deflector



Check

Set piston on cylinder 1 with the counterholder to TDC (ignition TDC)

 Rotate engine at crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until the 0° marking on the belt pulley/vibration damper coincides with the marking on the major assembly carrier.

Check basic position of the balance shafts (1)

 The marking on the balance shaft housing (A) and marking on the balance shaft (B) must be aligned with each other.

If this is not the case.



Bring balance shaft (1) into the basic position

Install

Install oil deflector

 Bolt, oil deflector to bearing housing

Unfasten vehicle from vehicle lift

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
