Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Check exhaust system for external damage

Check exhaust pipe, metal hose, muffler, clamps and hangers for condition and assembly in accordance with the specifications

Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and run at idling speed

Close off exhaust tailpipe

Using suitable aids (e.g. stop plug, plate) seal in order to build up as high an exhaust gas pressure as possible.

Check exhaust system at pipe and flange connections for escaping exhaust gas

Seal leaky parts of exhaust system or replace - subject to separate repair order.

Turn off engine

Remove exhaust pipe tail pipe stopper
