Check

Stretch the bellows (1) by turning the steering onto left wheel lock or right wheel lock and check for damage (cracks, chafing marks, intrusions)

Never check the bellows (1) by pressing in or around the raised beads as this leaves behind damage on the plastic and leads to leaks in the long-term.

If necessary:

Replace rack-and-pinion steering

- subject to separate repair order.

Remove/install rack-and-pinion steering

Check tie rod end (2) for play

Check tie rod end (2) by pulling and pushing firmly. If necessary:

Replace tie rod end (2)

- subject to separate repair order.

Remove/install tie rod ball joint

Check boot (3) on tie rod end (2) for leaks and condition

If boot (3) is damaged:

Replace tie rod end (2)

- subject to separate repair order.

Remove/install tie rod ball joint
