Remove/install

Switch off ignition and remove ignition key

Disconnect battery ground line

Remove floor covering in front passenger footwell

Remove footrest on front passenger footwell firewall

Disconnect electrical connector (X11/13) in front passenger footwell

Unscrew driver airbag screws/bolts (arrow) on steering wheel

 Secure driver airbag by hand from falling.

 Installation: Loosely screw in the screw/bolts by two turns and visually align the steering wheel cut-out by hand.

Remove driver airbag from steering wheel

Release and disconnect electrical connector from squib at gas generator

Remove driver airbag from steering wheel

Install in the reverse order



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine, SRS/RS indicator lamp must go off after approx. 4 s

If SRS/RS indicator lamp does not go off after approx. 4 s.



Read out fault memory with pulse counter and perform airbag test program.

Observe indicator lamp with full steering angle in both directions with the engine running, the indicator lamp must not illuminate or flicker
