1 | Remove steering wheel (1) and place on a suitable surface | ||
For safety reasons, the steering wheel (1) must not be set down on the driver's airbag unit (2) or on the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact. | |||
2 | Remove steering wheel spoke covers | ||
3 | Unscrew screws (3) from driver's airbag unit (2) | The screws (3) remain in the steering wheel (1). | |
Bolt, airbag to steering wheel | |||
4 | Remove driver's airbag unit (2) from steering wheel (1) until electrical connectors (4, 5) are accessible | If driver's airbag unit (2) has been triggered, steering wheel (1) must always be completely replaced | |
5 | Disconnect electrical connectors (4, 5) and place driver's airbag unit (2) to one side | If the driver's airbag unit (2) is to be replaced, the defective driver's airbag unit (2) must be disposed of properly and in an environment-friendly environment. | |
6 | Install in the reverse order | ||
7 | Check supplemental restraint system using STAR DIAGNOSIS | Only when replacing driver's airbag unit (2). | |
