Remove/install

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2m)

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery

Remove paneling on center console

Manually release park pawl, and move selector lever to rear-most position

Remove ashtray housing from front center console

Place rag (1) beneath cover (2)

 To prevent damage to lid (3) through cover (2).

Disconnect optical connector (4), and place fiber optical cable (5) to one side

Release lock (7) of electrical connector (8) with a suitable tool in direction of arrow, and disconnect from restraint systems control unit (N2/7)

Remove restraint systems control unit (N2/7) out of the center console

 Installation:
Make sure that ground line is properly fastened to restraint systems control unit ground (W26) at restraint systems control unit (N2/7).
Otherwise, correct operation of restraint systems control unit (N2/7) cannot be guaranteed.

 Installation: Do not trap selector lever release cable (9).

Install in the reverse order

Perform initial startup of restraint systems control unit (N2/7)

When replacing restraint systems control unit (N2/7).


