Step 18.1

Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Disconnect battery ground line

Remove underfloor paneling

Remove bolts on diagonal strut (1)

Only model 450.4.

Remove bolts of retaining plate (2)

Place a suitable lifting device underneath.

Unscrew nuts (3) at EJOT studs from heater (8)

If the heater (8) is replaced, the EJOT studs must be transferred.

Disconnect circulation pump power supply (4)

Detach connectors on heater (8)

Release hose clamp (5) at fuel line (9) and disconnect fuel line (9)

Prevent the fuel from escaping with suitable aids.

Release hose clamps of coolant hoses (6) at heater (8) and disconnect coolant hoses (6)

Place receptacle underneath.

Release clamp at combustion air intake line (7) and disconnect combustion air intake line at heater (8)

If the heater (8) is replaced, the exhaust muffler and EJOT studs of the removed heater (8) must be transferred.

Remove heater (8)

Install in the reverse order

Remove invalid dates on model plate of heater (8)

Only if the heater (8) was replaced.

Treat heater components with corrosion protection wax

Perform function test
