Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerants.

Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been emptied.

 Installation: Evacuate, refill and check air conditioner for leaks and proper operation.

 When filling the air conditioning system, feed the suctioned-off quantity of compressor oil back into the refrigerant circuit (use new compressor oil). Pay attention to oil filling capacity when replacing fluid reservoir.

Remove fluid reservoir

 A new fluid reservoir must be installed whenever the refrigerant compressor is removed and installed.

 Installation: Refill quantity when replacing fluid reservoir.

Disconnect refrigerant compressor connector (A9x1)

Detach suction and pressure line (4, 3)

 Remove bolts (2) at suction and pressure line (4, 3) to do this.

 Installation: Install new O-rings (5) and moisten with compressor oil.



Seal suction and pressure line (4, 3) openings



Unscrew screws (1) on refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Installation: For space reasons, insert bolts (1) before installing refrigerant compressor (A9).



Remove refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Installation: Before installing a new refrigerant compressor (A9), allow pressure in refrigerant compressor (A9) to escape slowly by releasing the connector cover at the pressure side.

 Total filling capacity for new system

 If the refrigerant compressor (A9) is replaced as a result of internal damage:



Install new suction and pressure line (4, 3), including O-rings (5).

Replace expansion valve

Install in the reverse order

Turn on air conditioning and idle engine for about 4 minutes

 Set temperature and blower switches to maximum.

Check air conditioning for proper operation

 The air outlet temperature at the center air outlet should undershoot +5 °C.

Check air conditioning circuit for leakage.
