Danger! | Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases, even sever extremities | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid | Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
1 | Remove left or right side paneling in trunk
2 | Connect tubular frame (2) with cable tie at suitable point. e.g. to left or right console (3) | This prevents the tubular frame (2) from being folded down when the trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) is removed.
3 | Open lock tab (4) and unclip tubular frame open limit switch (S119) from right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) | When removing right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).
4 | Lift upper retainer (5) and unclip left or right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) from tubular frame (2)
5 | Lift lower retainer (6) on trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) and unclip trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) from lower mount (7)
6 | Move retaining clips (8) on trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) with suitable pliers and pull hydraulic lines (9) out of trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1). | When removing retaining clips (8), do not support tool against hydraulic lines (9). Otherwise the hydraulic lines (9) can be damaged.
Lay rag below hydraulic line connections (9) to catch hydraulic oil running out.
7 | Remove trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) from trunk
| Install | ||
8 | Fasten hydraulic lines (9) on trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) and secure with retaining clips (8) | Observe marking of hydraulic lines (9). Connect line no. 51 at piston side and line no. 53 at rod side of left trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1). Connect line no. 40 at piston side and line no. 42 at rod side of right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).
9 | Clip trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) onto bottom mount (7)
10 | Remove support to fasten trunk lid assembly position | Support
11 | Kabelbinder am Rohrrahmen (2), zur Sicherung gegen Herunterklappen des Heckdeckels, abbauen und Heckdeckel im Heckdeckelschloss verriegeln
12 | Close tubular frame (2) by hand together with trunk lid and lock
| General notes on repairing tubular frame | ||
13 | Adjust trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1)
14 | Install tubular frame open limit switch (S119) on right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) and close lock tap (4) | When installing right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).
15 | Install left and right side paneling in trunk
16 | Check/correct oil level of hydraulic unit |
