Remove/install

Disconnect battery ground cable

Remove cover (2) below instrument panel on left

On vehicles with code (LHD) left-hand drive vehicle

Remove paneling (3) in the left footwell

On vehicles with code (LHD) left-hand drive vehicle

Remove glove compartment

On vehicles with code (RHD) right-hand drive vehicle

Pull paneling (1) out of retaining clips downward and remove

On vehicles with code (LHD) left-hand drive vehicle

Disconnect all electrical connectors (5) accessible from the front from the fuse and relay module (K40/1)

 Observe detent hooks and locking clips of the individual electrical connectors (5).

Unscrew bolts (4) of fuse and relay module (K40/1)

Pull out the fuse and relay module (K40/1) until the bracket (6) is accessible

 Pull out the fuse and relay module (K40/1) carefully to avoid damage to the wiring harnesses and other components.

Unclip bracket (6) on fuse and relay module (K40/1)

Rotate the fuse and relay module (K40/1) until the rear electrical connectors (7) are accessible

 Pull out the fuse and relay module (K40/1) carefully to avoid damage to the wiring harnesses and other components.

Unclip left SAM control unit (N10/10) in the area marked (arrow) and put to one side with electrical lines connected

Separate electrical connectors (7) on fuse and relay module (K40/1)

 Observe detent hooks and locking clips of the individual electrical connectors (7).

Remove fuse and relay module (K40/1)

Remove fuses and relays of fuse and relay module (K40/1)

When replacing the fuse and relay module (K40/1).
