Removing

Remove airbag unit from steering wheel (1)

Detach electrical connector (3) at fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45)

 The electrical connection (2) for the driver airbag unit must not be detached from the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45). Otherwise, replace fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45):

Release latches (arrows) of fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45) by applying suitable screwdriver to steering wheel (1)

Remove fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45) with mounted wiring harness for driver airbag unit

Detach ground line (5) from electrical connection (3) and remove wiring harness (4)

Only when replacing the steering wheel (1).

Install

Mount ground line (5) for new steering wheel (1) into electrical connection (3) of removed wiring harness (4)

Fit wiring harness (4) to new steering wheel (1)

Only when replacing the steering wheel (1).

Mount fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45) with mounted wiring harness for driver airbag unit

Mount electrical connector (3) to fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45)

 The wiring harness with the electrical connection (3) is to be converted to match the new part.

Install airbag unit onto steering wheel (1)
