Remove/install

Reduce vacuum in brake booster (1) by depressing the brake pedal several times.

Remove brake fluid reservoir.

Clean master brake cylinder (2) in the area of the connections of the brake lines (3).


Thoroughly clean area around connecting points before opening brake system.
Otherwise minute particles of dirt in the hydraulic components can result in malfunctions and total failure of the brake system.

 Use clean, lint-free rag only.

 Do not use any compressed air for cleaning when the brake system is open.

Remove brake lines (3) from master brake cylinder (2) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

Seal connections on master brake cylinder (2).
Otherwise, the master brake cylinder (2) may be damaged by foreign objects entering.

Remove nut (4) and nut (arrow).

Guide master brake cylinder (2) out under the strut (5) out of the brake booster (1) and subsequently remove towards rear.


Collect the brake fluid which runs out using an absorbent rag.
Otherwise, the paint will be damaged.


Do not tilt master brake cylinder (2); pull it forward and in a straight line out of the brake booster (1).
The push rod will otherwise be pressed out of its axial position.

 Installation: Replace seal between master brake cylinder (2) and brake booster (1).

Install in the reverse order.

Bleed brake system.
