Check oil level only at room temperature and not when rear axle center section is warm. Otherwise oil required for other purposes could flow out when the rear axle center section is warm.
1 Clean the area around the oil filler screw (50g).
2 Unscrew oil filler plug (50g).
3 If necessary collect any oil which runs out and allow to run out until oil only drips out of the opening.
4 Check oil level.
The rear axle is not filled properly when the oil reaches the upper edge of the foil filler hole. If necessary, add hypoid transmission oil.
The fully synthetic oil can also be used without reservation for rear axle gears manufactured before 04.11.2001. Mixing old universal hypoid gear oil and new FE hypoid gear oil does not impair the base functions such as wear characteristics, leaktightness, etc. at the rear axle gear, but should, however, be avoided on account of the better fuel economy behavior.

Replace oil filler screw (50g).
5 Coat Loctite 7063 cleaning spray on a rag and clean the new oil filler screw (50g) and tapped hole in the rear axle center assembly.
The oil filler screw (50g) and tapped hole must be free from oil and grease.
6 Coat about one drop of Omnifit 1 sealing compound onto the 00H second or third lower thread.
7 Screw the oil filler screw (50g) into the rear axle center assembly immediately and tighten .
