Remove/install rear axle shaft

Remove/install

Unscrew nut of the right and left bar-type link (2) on the axle tube (3) and remove bolt (1) with lock washer (4)

 Support the respective axle tube using a transmission lifter, not damaging the boot of the rear axle shaft in the process.

 Installation: Only tighten the nut when the vehicle is unladen (approx. 75 kg weight on the driver seat and full tank or approx. 20 kg weight in the front passenger area).



Remove rear wheel

Unscrew bolt (5) of rear axle shaft (6)

 Installation: When tightening the bolt (5) the vehicle should not be on the drive wheels under any circumstances, otherwise the wheel bearing is not preloaded in accordance with the specifications.

 Installation: Replace bolt (5).



Press the axle tube (3) to one side using the forked lever (7)

 Do not press the axle tube (3) too far to one side so that the shock absorber is not damaged.



Pull rear axle shaft (6) out of the wheel hub and guide upwards out of the wheel area

 Do not pull the rear axle shaft (6) apart otherwise the balls fall out of the joint and the rear axle shaft (6) has to be replaced.

 Do not compress the outer boot (8) on the rear axle shaft (6) otherwise grease is pressed outwards.

 Installation: The short gear teeth on the wheel bearing joint of the rear axle shaft (6) must be pushed fully into the wheel bearing.

Pry rear axle shaft (6) carefully out of the transmission (9) using the forked lever (7)

 Do not damage the shaft seal.

Collect any transmission oil which flows out and seal the opening in the transmission (9) with a plug (10)


