1 | Install the lock key (5) in the actuation flange (2) and tighten the collar nut . |
Tighten the collar nut up to the prescribed torque and do not use any pneumatic wrench for its tightening. |
2 | Install the torque meter (4) with the adapter of the socket wrench (3) in the collar nut. |
3 | Turn manually the torque meter at least three turns, and check simultaneously the reading of the friction moment. |
Should the friction torque is higher or smaller than the prescribed amount, disassemble again the pinion again and fit a compensation washer as necessary. Repeat the operation as from step 1, until the specified value is obtained. |
For axlesHL8 the adjustment washer thickness is supplied as from 1.60 mm with increments of 0.05 mm. |
In axles with used bearings, a friction moment value close to the smallest prescribed value can be found, as the bearing has already seated. For axles with new bearings, a friction moment value close to the highest prescribed value can be found, as the bearing has yet to seat. |
4 | Lock the collar nut . |
