Remove/install

Remove left or right rear axle spring.

Model 118, 177, 247
with code U55 (Multi-link axle)
except code U54 (Compound-link axle)

Remove left or right underfloor paneling (2).

Remove left or right cable duct (4) from trailing arm (1).

Support left or right wheel carrier.



Remove screw/bolts (3).

 Replace bolts (3).

 Bolt, bearing bracket to body

Remove nut from screw (5) then remove screw (5).

 Replace screw (5) with corresponding nut.

 Nut, torsion bar linkage to wheel carrier

Remove nuts from screws (6) then remove screws (6).

 Replace screws (6) with corresponding nuts.

 Bolt, trailing arm to wheel carrier

Remove trailing arm (1) with mounting support (1.1).

 Removal:
Do not release screw of mounting support (1.1).
Otherwise, the elastomer bearing will be damaged.

 The trailing arm (1) forms a single component with the mounting support (1.1) and can only be replaced as a whole.

Install in the reverse order.
