Remove/install

Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.

Remove screws of front axle shafts (10).

 For counterholding purposes an assistant must apply the brake.

 Screw/bolt, front axle shaft to wheel hub

Loosen front axle shaft (10) from wheel hub.


Only loosen front axle shaft (10).
Screwing in the pull-off device completely can damage front axle shaft (10).

Remove suspension strut from lower control arm.

Remove electrical wiring harnesses from steering knuckle.

Remove steering knuckle from upper transverse control arm and swivel out of working area.

Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the lines which may impair their functional capability.

Remove front axle shaft (10) from wheel hub.

Pry front axle shaft (10) out of front axle differential and remove.

 Aid of helper required.

 Do not damage boots (10m) and protective ring (10r) of front axle shaft (10) or radial shaft sealing ring in front axle differential.

 Installation: Replace retaining ring (10s).



Check

Check radial shaft sealing ring in front axle differential for damage.

If damage is present,



replace radial shaft sealing ring.

Install in the reverse order.
