Remove

Remove hub cap from corresponding front wheel.

If the front wheel has to be removed for this purpose,



remove corresponding front wheel, then mount again.

Unfasten front axle shaft bolt (1) to wheel hub.

Remove corresponding front wheel.

Unscrew screw of front axle shaft (1) on wheel hub.

Remove brake caliper and let it hang down at one side with lines attached.

Remove stabilizer bar.

Remove upper transverse control arm from steering knuckle.

Remove front axle shaft (1) from steering knuckle.

Position impact extractor (2) and pull-off device (3) on front axle shaft (1) (arrow).

Pull out front axle shaft (1).

Fix steering knuckle in place on upper transverse control arm using cable ties.

Remove retaining ring (4) from intermediate shaft (5).



Install

Install new retaining ring (4) on intermediate shaft (5).

 Apply light coating of microgrease to retaining ring (4).

Slide front axle shaft (1) onto intermediate shaft (5).

 Before installation of the front axle shaft (1) apply light coating of grease to intermediate shaft (5).

Unfasten cable tie and insert front axle shaft (1) into steering knuckle.

Tighten front axle shaft bolt (1) lightly by hand.

 Replace front axle shaft bolt (1).

Attach steering knuckle to upper transverse control arm.

Install stabilizer bar.

Mount front wheel.

Tighten front axle shaft bolt (1).
