Remove

1

Remove respective wheel and tire assembly

Remove brake disk (7)

Pull off hub cap (11)

 Removal and installation tool

Unfasten bolt of clamp nut (10) and unscrew clamp nut (10)

Remove thrust plate (9)

Pull wheel hub (6) with inner tapered roller bearing (5) as well as outer tapered roller bearing (8) off steering knuckle (3) and remove outer tapered roller bearing (8)



Check

Check wheel hub (6), inner tapered roller bearing (5), radial shaft sealing ring (4) and outer tapered roller bearing (8) for wear and damage

If wear or damage present



Replace wheel hub (6), inner tapered roller bearing (5), radial shaft sealing ring (4) and outer tapered roller bearing (8).

Install

Place wheel hub (6) with inner tapered roller bearing (5) and radial shaft sealing ring (4) onto steering knuckle (3)

Apply generous amount of grease to outer tapered roller bearing (8)

MB multipurpose grease, 400 g

Slide outer tapered roller bearing (8) onto steering knuckle (3) and install

Push on thrust washer (9).

 The smooth side of the thrust plate (9) must point toward the outer tapered roller bearing (8).

Tighten clamp nut (10) and unfasten again by one half of a turn

13

Measure wheel bearing play on wheel hub (6) and adjust, if necessary
