Remove/install

1

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2  m).

Remove rear bumper.

Remove load compartment well cover.

Extend ball neck.

Disconnect trailer hitch wiring harness in vehicle interior.

 Do not detach the wiring harness from the trailer hitch crossmember (1).

Unscrew screws (4) from trailer hitch crossmember (1) and remove trailer hitch crossmember (1).

 Helper required.

Detach nuts (8) of trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3).

Remove screws (5) of trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3).

Remove trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3).



Install

Position trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3).

Position screws (5) of trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3).

Position nuts (8) of trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3).

Place trailer hitch crossmember (1) on trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3) and position screws (4).

 Helper required.

Align trailer hitch longitudinal members (2, 3) and trailer hitch crossmember (1) free of stress.

15

Tighten nuts (8).

Tighten bolts (5).

 Screw/bolt, longitudinal member reinforcement for trailer hitch to body

Tighten screws (4).

 Screw/bolt, trailer hitch to longitudinal member reinforcement

Connect trailer hitch wiring harness in vehicle interior.

Retract ball neck.

Install load compartment well cover.

Install rear bumper.

Check

Carry out function check of electrically unlocked trailer coupling.

Perform function check of light signals at trailer socket (X58).
