1 | Set transmission to "P" using selector lever. | | |
2 | Remove axle drive module (4) far enough to gain access to cover panel (3). |

3 | Remove cover panel (3). | To do this, remove screws (2). | |
Screw, cover panel to axle drive module | |||
4 | Remove cap (6) and take off far enough to gain access to electrical connector (7). | To do this, remove the bolts (5). | |
Screw, park pawl cap to axle drive module | |||
5 | Release and disconnect electrical connector (7) and remove cap (6). | ||
6 | Remove gearwheel (9). | To do so, remove retaining ring (8) using a suitable tool. | |
7 | Remove park pawl actuator (1) from axle drive module (4). | To do so, remove screws (10) and pull out park pawl actuator (1). | |
Screw, park pawl actuator to axle drive module | |||
| Check | ||
8 | Check gearwheel (1.1) of park pawl actuator (1) and gearwheel (9) for damage. | If damage is detected, | |

Replace park pawl actuator (1). | |||
9 | Check seal (6.1) and electrical contacts (arrows A) on cap (6) for damage. | If damage is detected, | |
| |||
replace cap (6). | |||
10 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
| Check | ||
11 | Read out and erase fault memory with diagnostic device. | ||
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
Do not remove diagnostic device yet. | |||
12 | Perform function test of park pawl actuator (1) using diagnostic device. | ||
13 | Disconnect diagnostic unit. |
