1 | Drain fluid from transmission. | ||

3 | Secure transmission onto assembly stand and turn to horizontal position. | ||
4 | Shift transmission to neutral position. | ||
5 | Remove linkage (4). | ||
6 | Remove gearshift shaft (2) with cap (1). | To do so, remove bolts (3). Tilt the shift shaft (2) slightly to make removal easier. | |

7 | Clean sealing surfaces at transmission housing and cap (1). | Assembly cleaner | |
| Check | ||
8 | Check position of shift rods (5). | The grooves of the shift rods (5) must line up (arrow). | |
| Install | ||
9 | Apply sealing adhesive evenly to sealing surface on cap (1). | Loctite 5203 sealant | |
10 | Install gearshift shaft (2) with cap (1). | Tilt the shift shaft (2) slightly to make installation easier, then screw in the bolts (3). | |

11 | Install linkage (4). | ||

12 | Check gearshift system for ease of movement. | If shift operation is not smooth, it may be necessary to remove the shift shaft (2) with cover (1) again and check the shift rods (5). | |
| Install | ||
13 | Detach transmission from assembly stand. | ||
14 | Install transmission. |
