1 Mount intermediate plate.
When mounting the intermediate plate on the transmission housing ensure that the locking lever (107) engages in the shift lever (76).

2 Heat up helical gear for 5th gear to approx. 80 °C and push on. The wider collar must point towards the tapered roller bearing.
3 Smear hexagon bolt for the reverse shaft (47) with sealing agent and tighten.

4 Attach thrust washer (51) to the countershaft.
The thrust washer is no longer fitted as of transmission end no. 122 8476.

5 Attach synchronizer body (56), helical gear (52) with synchronizing ring (53) to countershaft.
With the helical gear, the needle cage in the helical gear is also installed.

6 Reduce axial play of synchronizer body to a minimum by using locking rings of different thickness.
Locking rings are available in thicknesses of 1.2 mm, 1.3 mm and 1.4 mm.
7 Attach locking rings (57).
Ensure that the locking ring is seated correctly in the groove.
