Remove/Install

Remove lamp unit

Remove front end crossmember together with front grille

Remove left radiator trim panel (12) and right radiator trim panel (13)

Attached by screws at bottom, inserted at top.

Disconnect plug of additional fan (14)

Remove additional fan (14)

Detach additional fan (14) with bracket at top of radiator (1).

Remove charge air hose (17) from charge air cooler (9) to silencer

Detach automatic transmission oil lines (15, 16) with bracket at radiator (1) and put down toward the engine

The automatic transmission oil lines (15, 16) remain at the engine. Seal automatic transmission oil lines (15, 16) with suitable plugs.

Detach coolant hoses (3, 6) at coolant expansion tank and coolant hoses (4, 5) at radiator (1)

Collect coolant which flows out

Installation: Check condition of hose clamps, replace if necessary.

Unplug plug at coolant level sensor (7)

Detach charge air hose (8) at charge air cooler (9)

Unscrew bolts (2) from radiator

Unscrew bolts (11) of charge air cooler (9) at radiator (1)

Take radiator (1) out of the grommets (10).

Swivel charge air cooler (9) with coolant loop for steering and capacitor (18) outwards and to the right by approx. 30°

Remove fan shroud (20) at radiator (1)

Only when replacing the radiator (1).

Detach bottom radiator trim (21)

Only when replacing the radiator (1).

19.1

Remove coolant level sensor (7)

Only when replacing the radiator (1).

Install in the reverse order

Inspect ATF level of automatic transmission

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Check radiator unit for leaks

Run engine until warm, switch off and inspect for leaks.
