Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Drain off coolant.

 Removal: Firstly, lower the vehicle for filling.

Remove screws (2).

Expose engine block heater (1).

Remove coolant hoses (3) from engine block heater (1).

 Collect escaping coolant with a suitable container and seal connections.

 Installation: Check clamps for damage.

If clamps are damaged,



replace affected clamps.

Remove engine block heater (1).

 To do so, raise the protective covers and remove the nuts of electric lines (4). Nuts stay on electric lines (4).

Install in the reverse order.



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check leaktightness in the area of the engine block heater (1) while the engine is running.

 Visual inspection only.
