Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Remove engine with transmission.

Remove charge air pipe (2).

 Only release the charge air cooler; do not remove completely.

Remove screw/bolts (3).

 Installation: Replace screw/bolts (3).

 Bolt, low pressure EGR line to low pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Unscrew bolt (4).

 Installation: Replace screw (4).

 Bolt, low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler to rear cap/holder

Remove screw (5) and open clamp (6).

 Installation: Replace bolt (5)

 Screw, clamp for low pressure exhaust gas recirculation line to SCR catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit

Check clamp (6) for damage.

If damage is detected



replace clamp (6).

Remove exhaust gas recirculation line (1) from the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler (7) and from the diesel particulate filter.

 Installation: Install new seal (8) and seal on the diesel particulate filter.

Cover opening on the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler (7) and on the diesel particulate filter with suitable protective covers.

Check

Check exhaust gas recirculation line (1) for damage.

If damage is detected



replace exhaust gas recirculation line (1).

Check sieve (1.1) of the exhaust gas recirculation line (1) for damage.

If damage is detected



replace exhaust gas recirculation line (1).



Clean

Clean the sealing surfaces of the EGR (1).

If the exhaust gas recirculation line (1) is reused.

Install in the reverse order.



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
