Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle with vehicle lift

Remove bracket (7) on hose (8) from bracket (5)

Disconnect electrical connector of exhaust temperature sensor upstream of diesel particulate filter (DPF) (B19/9x1).

On vehicles with code (474) Diesel particulate filter (closed)

Disconnect electrical connector of exhaust temperature sensor upstream of exhaust gas turbocharger (B19/11x1)

On vehicles with code (474) Diesel particulate filter (closed)

Unclip connector (9) from bracket (5)n

On vehicles with code (474) Diesel particulate filter (closed)

Unscrew bolts (2) on exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) from exhaust gas recirculation cooler (3)

Loosen bolts (4) on bracket (5) from cylinder head

Unscrew bolts (6) on exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) from exhaust gas turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1)

Installation: Clean sealing surfaces. Replace seal between exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) and exhaust gas recirculation cooler (3) as well as between exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) and exhaust gas turbocharger.

Install in the reverse order

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Test run engine and check exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) for leakage

Read out fault memory, erase if necessary

On vehicles with code (474) Diesel particulate filter (closed)

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
