Remove/install engine intake air duct downstream of air filter

Remove/install

Remove engine cover.

Open clamp (3).

 Screw, clamp securing air intake pipe to air intake hose

Open quick-release fastener (4) and detach air intake pipe (1) from the air intake line upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger.

Detach air intake pipe (1) from the air intake hose (2) and remove toward the front.

 Together, the air intake pipe (1) and air intake hose (2) form the engine air intake duct downstream of the air filter.

Seal air intake line upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger and air intake hose (2) with protective covers.

Open clamp (5).

 Screw, clamp securing air intake hose to hot film mass air flow sensor

Detach air intake hose (2) from hot film mass air flow sensor (6) and remove toward the front.

Seal air intake hose (2) and hot film mass air flow sensor (6) with protective covers.

 Set of protective covers

Check

9

Check air intake pipe (1) for damage.

If damage is identified,



replace air intake pipe (1) and air intake hose (2).

Check air intake hose (2) for damage.

If damage is identified,



replace air intake pipe (1) and air intake hose (2).

Check quick-release fastener (4) for damage.

If damage is identified,



replace air intake line upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger.

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine air intake duct downstream of air filter for leak tightness.
