No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove latch (1) and remove engine compartment cover (2)

Detach plug (3) from rail pressure sensor (B4/6)

 Installation: Ensure that the plug (3) engages securely.

Remove rail pressure sensor (B4/6) from the rail (4)


To prevent the nut (5) from coming loose as well, counterhold it with an open end wrench on the rail (4),
because otherwise, if the nut (5) comes loose, leaks may occur on the rail (4) and the rail (4) may have to be replaced.

 After the disassembly of the rail pressure sensor (B4/6), seal connection of the rail (4) with a suitable grommet.

 Installation: The sealing ring of the rail pressure sensor (B4/6) must generally be replaced.
In the event of radial score marks on the sealing surfaces, the effected component parts must be replaced.

Install in the reverse order

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Inspect fuel system for leaks

 Allow engine to run, switch off, and then check the leak tightness of the fuel system.
