Attach retaining lock for engine

Remove glow plugs

Screw adapter (1) into glowplug bore for cylinder 1



Attach compressed air hose (2) for pressure loss tester to adapter (1) and apply compressed air to cylinder

 Observe operating instructions for the pressure loss tester.



Screw counter stay (4) into the respective threaded hole (arrow A, B, C or D) in cylinder head (12)

 To remove the valve spring (10) on the cylinder 1 exhaust valve, use threaded hole (arrow A).

To remove the valve spring (10) on the cylinder 1 intake valve, use threaded hole (arrow B).

To remove the valve springs (10) on the cylinder 2 exhaust and intake valves, use threaded hole (arrow D).

To remove the valve springs (10) on the cylinder 3 exhaust and intake valves, use threaded hole (arrow C).



Attach lever handle (6) and thrust piece (3) to thrust fork (5) and hook into counter stay (4)



Position thrust piece (3) in the middle on the upper valve spring retainer (7) and press valve spring (10) together through pressing together the lever handle (6)



Remove valve collets (9) using suitable magnets and also remove thrust fork (5) using a thrust piece (3) and lever handle (6)

 When removing the valve collets (9), ensure that the fuel injectors are not damaged.



Remove upper valve spring retainer (7), valve spring (10) and lower valve spring retainer (11)

 Observe installation position of the valve spring (10) and lower valve spring retainer (11).

Pull out valve stem seal (8) with pliers

 The pliers are contained in the valve repair tool set.

 Installation: Lubricate new valve stem seal (8) with engine oil.

Plug in protective sleeve onto valve stem and press on valve stem seal (8) using a drift.



Install in the reverse order

 Steps 14 to 7.

Perform removal of the further valve stem seal (8) in the same way

 Steps 7 to 15.
