Remove/install

Remove right charge air line

 Installation: Install right charge air line only after checking basic position of camshafts (4).
Only install top engine cover after the leak test.

Remove the charge air cooler and place it at the front with the lines connected

 Installation: Install charge air cooler only after checking basic position of camshafts (4).

Rotate the engine at crankshaft center bolt in direction of engine rotation to ignition TDC on cylinder 1 

 The TDC marking on the belt pulley must be aligned with the positioning edge on the timing case cover.

Remove cylinder head cover

Install hold-down tool (5) including brackets (6)

Remove the chain tensioner

Remove control valve (2) for the respective camshaft positioner (1)



Specified engine oils (service) - Overview

BB00.40-P-0223-02A

 Installation: Wet thread and the bolt head contact surface of the control valve (2) with engine oil.
Tighten control valve (2) evenly without discontinuity using the specified torque.

Lift off timing chain from corresponding camshaft positioner (1) and remove corresponding camshaft positioner (1)

Install in the reverse order

Rotate engine at crankshaft center bolt twice in direction of engine rotation to ignition TDC on cylinder 1

 The TDC marking on the belt pulley must be aligned with the positioning edge on the timing case cover.

Check basic position of camshafts (4)

Install the right charge air line

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run, checking the engine for leaktightness and proper operation
