Remove/install

Remove upper service flap.

Remove Hall sensor of the exhaust camshaft.

Remove Hall sensor of the intake camshaft.

Turn engine in direction of engine rotation to cylinder 1  ignition TDC and install retaining lock for crankshaft.

 If marking (M) is not visible, piston of cylinder 1 is not at ignition TDC.

Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter.

Remove front noise insulation.

Remove wide open throttle bleed line from oil separator.

Remove rear noise insulation.

Remove screws (60a).


When loosening and tightening the screws (60a), do not damage the fuel high-pressure line.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

Loosen screw (60b).


When loosening and tightening the screw (60b), do not damage the fuel high-pressure line.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

Remove service covers (61).

 Installation:
Ensure seal is correctly installed.
The seals will otherwise be damaged.

 Installation: Replace seals.



Check

Install locating tool in service openings to check basic position of camshafts.

 The  locating tool must be inserted in the service openings in a disassembled manner.



Set basic position of the camshafts.
