Remove/install

Remove camshaft positioners.

Remove hold-down tools (3).

Bolt, holding device for camshaft to cylinder head

Remove intake camshaft(1).

Specified engine oils (service) - Overview

BB00.40-P-0223-02A

Installation:
The cams of the intake camshaft (1) must point upwards at an angle at cylinder 1 after insertion. The cams of the intake camshaft (1) and the exhaust camshaft (2) must point to each other.
This prevents damage occurring to the intake camshaft (1).

Installation: Lubricate intake camshafts (1) in the area of the bearing.

Remove exhaust camshaft(2).

Installation:
The cams of the exhaust camshaft (2) must point upwards at an angle at cylinder 1 after insertion. The cams of the intake camshaft (1) and the exhaust camshaft (2) must point to each other.
This prevents damage occurring to the exhaust camshaft (2).

Installation: Lubricate exhaust camshafts (2) in the area of the bearing.

Check

Check diameter of camshaft bearing journal.

Diameter of camshaft fitted bearing journal

If wear is detected,

Replace the respective camshaft.

Install in the reverse order
