Remove/install

Remove cylinder head cover

Detach glow output stage and place to one side with electrical connectors attached

Remove vacuum pump

Remove expansion clip (1) and cover (2)

Checking

Trace marking (A) on the crankshaft belt pulley (3) using a suitable colored pencil

If necessary turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft belt pulley (3) in the direction of engine rotation.

Further turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft belt pulley (3) in the direction of engine rotation until marking (A) on the crankshaft belt pulley (3) stands opposing marking (B) on the timing case cover (4)

Check whether the markings (C) on the camshaft sprocket (5) and markings (D) on the cylinder head (6) lie parallel to each other

Remove camshaft if necessary and correct timing of the engine.
