Removing

Checking

Check mounting flange on flywheel (1) by means of visual inspection for galling

 In case of galling:



Replace rear crankshaft radial sealing ring

Check clutch surface (friction surface) of flywheel (1) for scorch marks, score marks, cracks and dimensional accuracy

 If scorch marks and score marks are only slightly visible then the clutch surface (friction surface) can be post-worked. One must not go below the flywheel minimum width (E) of the flywheel (1) during reworking.

If scorch marks and cracks are only very visible and perceptible, replace flywheel.

Check flywheel for dimensional accuracy and check for flatness using a straightedge

 If one goes below the flywheel minimum width (E) between the clutch surface (friction surface) and mounting flange; replace flywheel (1).

In case of unevenness clutch surface (friction surface) can be post-worked. One must not go below the flywheel minimum width (E) of the flywheel (1) during reworking.

Straightedge

Check ring gear (2) on flywheel (1) for wear

 Replace flywheel (1) if worn.

Reworking

Rework flywheel (1)

 Only for an appropriate complaint after checking.

After machining of the clutch face there must not be any shrink holes or chatter marks present.
