Remove

Remove crankshaft (1).

Clean

Clean all parts of the crank assembly.


The parts of the crank assembly must be absolutely free of soiling.
Engine damage will occur otherwise.

 If bearing damage has occurred, it may be necessary to remove any swarf from the oil duct, the conrod bore holes and crankshaft oil ducts (1) and the crankcase.

Check

Check connecting rods.

Notes on assessing wear on connecting rod bearings and connecting rod journals

 Perform visual inspection. The connecting rod must not have any cross scores and notches.

Depending on the findings,



replace affected connecting rods.

Remove/install piston

Check crankshaft (1) for wear and damage.

Assign crankshaft bearing shells (2, 4).
