| Removing | ||
1 | Remove piston (5) | ||
2 | Determine the side clearance of the piston rings (1, 2, 3)
3 | Remove the piston rings (1, 2, 3) from the piston (5)
4 | Determine the end gap of the piston rings (1, 2, 3) | Insert respective piston ring (1, 2, 3) into the unused area of the cylinder contact surface.
| |||
| Cleaning | ||
5.1 | Clean piston ring groove in piston (5) | Only for heavily soiled piston ring grooves.
Where necessary, break the old piston rings (1, 2, 3) in the center, and to clean the piston ring grooves, pull the broken piece of the respective piston ring (1, 2, 3) through the associated piston ring groove.
| Installing | ||
6 | Insert piston ring (3) in the piston (5). | Note installation location of the piston ring (3). The emblem "Top", the color marking or the name of the manufacturer must point towards the piston crown. Pay attention to the spring expander offset (A) of the spring expander (4) in relation to the ring gap of the piston ring (3). Insert spring expander (4) offset by 180° (arrow).
| |||
7 | Insert piston ring (1, 2) in the piston (5). | Note the installation position of piston rings (1, 2). The emblem "Top", the color marking or the name of the manufacturer must point towards the piston crown.
| |||
8 | Offset the ring gaps of the piston rings (1, 2, 3) by 120°
9 | Install piston (5) |
