1 | Open the engine access cover | Access to perform the maintenance and repairs varies according to the bodywork type/manufacturer of the bodywork. | |

3 | Remove the housings (1) | Wash the housings with diesel oil. | |
4 | Remove the filter elements | If water is detected or if the removed filter elements are too dirty, this will be indication that the fuel is contaminated, and in this case the new filter elements will get clogged again in short time. Should this occur, an internal cleaning of the fuel reservoirs will be required. | |
When installing, replace the filter elements, the sealing rings located in the filter head and the copper rings of the screw (2). | |||

On engines with vent-less filter, loosen the pump gallery outlet plug approximately 1/2 turn. | |||

Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. | |
7 | Actuate and check the leak tightness of the fuel system | Do not crank the starter continuously for more than 30 seconds. If the engine does not fire within this interval, wait approximately 1 minute to crank it again. |
