Radio frequency locking (RFL) communication system description

Communication with the central locking system (CL) convenience locking system (CLS)

Command messages are sent to and status messages are received from the central locking system/convenience locking system via a single-wire lead.

The following command messages have been defined:

unlock vehicle,

lock vehicle

The following status messages have been defined:

vehicle unlocked,

vehicle locked

A command message is sent to the central locking system/convenience locking system if the ignition is OFF and a valid message has been received from a transmitter key. The new state (unlocked/locked) must be the opposite of the previous state. The central locking system/convenience locking system replies to a command message with a status message after max. 1.5 sec. (unlock) or 3 sec. (lock).

A new command message is not sent until a status message has been received or after a delay of 1.5 sec. or 3 sec. A status message from the central locking system/convenience locking system can be received at any time.

If the above delay times are not adhered to, e.g. because of fast key opening/closing, the hinged key position may not correspond with the vehicle status (unlocked/locked).

Vehicles with anti-theft alarm system (ATA)

In vehicles with an anti-theft alarm system, the ATA control module is located between the RFL control module and the CL control module. Command messages from the RFL control module are passed on to the CL control module via the ATA control module. And vice-versa, status messages are sent from the CL control module to the ATA control module, where they are passed on to the RFL control module.

ATA deactivation: The system is switched off after receipt of an "unlock vehicle" command message from the DAS control module.

ATA activation: The system is switched on after receipt of a "vehicle locked" status message from the CL control module.
