Task
The engine management (MR) control unit (A6) determines the fuel temperature via the fuel temperature sensor.

There is an electrical resistor (1) with a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) inside the fuel temperature sensor.
NTC means "Negative Temperature Coefficient": the electrical resistance decreases as temperature increases (NTC thermistor).
The fuel temperature sensor is connected to the engine wiring harness via electrical contacts (3) and directly connected to the engine management control unit (MR).
Function
The fuel at the fuel temperature sensor influences the temperature of the measuring element inside the fuel temperature sensor depending on its temperature, and thus the size of the NTC resistor. The engine management control unit (MR) identifies the associated temperature from the electrical resistor.
