Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove bottom section of soundproofing

 Only remove rear piece.

Remove diagonal struts

 Only on vehicles with panoramic glass roof with top sliding roof, code 413.

Remove strut (1b)

Remove screw/bolts (2) at transmission bracket (3)



Remove nuts (5) at transfer case bracket (4)

 Installation: Replace self-locking nuts (5).



Detach hose clamps (6) and disconnect hoses (7)

 Installation: Replace clamps (6).

Disconnect connector for O2 sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/2)

 Unclip connector.

Disconnect catalytic converter temperature sensor connector

 Detach catalytic converter temperature sensor connector at bracket.

Disconnect temperature sensor connector upstream of diesel particulate filter (B19/9)

Support exhaust system (1)

Remove bolt (9) on hose clamp

 Installation: Check hose clamps, replace if necessary. Clean connecting points of combustion and corrosion residues.



Remove screw/bolts (10) at exhaust rubber mount (11)



Unhook exhaust system (1) from exhaust rubber mounts (12, 13)

 Installation: Coat exhaust rubber mounts (11, 12, 13) with liquid lubricant to make installation easier.

Remove exhaust system (1)



Checking

Inspect exhaust rubber mounts (11, 12, 13)

 Check exhaust rubber mounts (11, 12, 13) for wear; replace if necessary.

Install in the reverse order



Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system (1)

 The exhaust system (1) must be mounted free of tension; align the exhaust system (1) if so required.

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run

 Check exhaust system (1) for leaks.
