AR47.70-S-0002-01F | Check high-voltage battery
Danger | Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. | No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Topical note | Notes on battery |
Measure the depth of the dent using a vernier caliper and a straightedge, scale ruler or contact angle against a non-deformed housing contour. The diameter of the round measuring blade of the vernier caliper must not exceed 1.5 mm.
Example of a damaged high-voltage battery with different dent depths:
Permissible dent depth (arrows a): Transport approval
Impermissible dent depth (arrow b): No transport approval
P54.10-4796-11
1 | Determine height of straightedge, scale ruler or contact angle as a point of origin at the non-deformed housing contour (arrow c). |
P54.10-4797-11
2 | Measure maximum dent depth (d) and evaluate. |
Dent depth (d) < 2 mm: Transport approval |
