Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove rear wheels

Remove brake disks on rear axle

Unhook retracting spring (6) using removal and installation tool



Remove retaining springs (7).

 Compress retaining springs (7) and turn counterclockwise or clockwise through 90°.

Remove brake shoes (1) with adjusting mechanism (5) and retracting spring (2)

 If the brake shoes (1) are burnt or the brake disk surfaces are damaged, the brake shoes (1), retracting spring (2, 6), retaining springs (7) and brake disks should be replaced.

Remove retracting spring (2) and adjusting mechanism (5)

 Installation: Apply light coating of grease to thread on thrust piece (4) and inner cylinder of adjusting mechanism (5 ) . Turn back adjusting mechanism (5) and mount thrust piece (4) as follows:

Left side: Left thrust piece to lower brake shoes (1).

Right side: Right thrust piece to upper brake shoes (1).

Remove expansion lock (8)

 For this purpose, fold down expansion lock (8) and press out of the rear parking brake cable.

 Installation: Apply light coating of grease to slide surfaces on expansion lock (8).

Checking

Check parking-brake brake cables

 Check for ease of movement and chafing marks, if necessary:


Replace front parking brake cable.

Install in the reverse order

Bed in parking brake according to instructions.
