1 | Install the measurement device (11) on the differential assembly housing bearings (1). |
Observe the correct supporting of the measurement device (11) onto the bearings. At the installation of the measurement device (11) there must not have pre-load. |
Before adjusting the pre-load of the tapered roller bearing, there must be a previous tightening (1st stage) of the screws (9) of the bearing cap, and a pre-adjustment of the backlash between the teeth of the ring gear and pinion. |
2 | Gradually tighten the threaded ring (2) with the quadrangular assembly pin (7) up to get a pre-load (A) of the differential case roller bearings on the dial gauges (10). |
Adjust with the smaller nominal value specified for pre-load of the differential case bearings (A), so that after tightening the screws (9) to the end tightening torque (2nd stage), the nominal value of pre-load is not exceeded. |

3 | Turn the ring gear a few times to seat the tapered roller bearings and, when returning the ring gear to starting position, note if there has been a pre-load falling. If necessary, correct it by turning the threaded ring (2). |
4 | Tighten the bearing cap screws (9) to the specified tightening torque (2nd stage) . |
5 | Check the pre-load of the differential case roller bearings again, the gotten value must be within the nominal specified value. |
If the nominal value is exceeded loosen the threaded ring (2) and repeat operations from step 2. |
6 | Remove the measurement device (11) and prove the specified value for the backlash between the ring gear and pinion. |
If the nominal value has not been reached repeat the instructions from the step 2. |
7 | Install the safety locks of the threaded rings and tighten the screws . |
