Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
| Notes on coolant | ||
| Disconnect battery ground line
| Open engine hood and raise to vertical position
| Remove right front fender liner
| Remove air filer with carrier
| Remove air intake duct (2) from fresh-air intake
| Unscrew cap (4) from coolant expansion reservoir (3)
| Attach drain hose (7) to drain fitting on cooler (5) and drain coolant from drain screw (6) | Collect coolant that flows out
| Loosen union nut on compressor coolant line (1) on cylinder crankcase and drain coolant | Collect coolant that flows out
| Remove grease and scale in the cooling system | Only if there is severe contamination:
| Check coolant for soiling | The coolant must generally be replaced if it is very contaminated.
| Check coolant with anti-freeze tester | If the antifreeze in the coolant is too low, either add more antifreeze or change the coolant.

Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
| Start engine and bleed cooling and heating system | By allowing the engine to run for approx. 5 minute at variable rpm. Top off coolant constantly to the bottom edge of the filler neck.
| Turn off engine | ||
| Inspecting cooling system for leaks | Visual inspection.
| Close engine hood |
