Take off camshaft housing (2) at cylinder head

Installation: Pay attention to correct seating of fitting sleeves (3).

Remove compensation elements

Do not use magnets. The compensation element slide surfaces could be magnetized otherwise. This can cause minute iron chips to accumulate, which can damage the compensation elements and the cams of the camshafts (1).

Installation: Lubricate compensation elements.
Compensation elements that have not been replaced must be reinstalled in the same position.

Checking

Check the camshaft case (2) and the contact surfaces of the camshafts (1) for damage

If the surface of the basic bore or the contact surfaces of the camshafts (1) is damaged, replace the camshaft case (2) or the camshafts (1).

Install in the reverse order
