Clean crankshaft bearing
Clean crankshaft bearing points in crankcase, crankshaft bearing cap and crankshaft journal for crankshaft with a chamois leather. Do not use any hard objects for cleaning.
If there is any bearing damage, it may be necessary to remove any swarf from the connecting rod bores, the crankshaft and crankcase oil ducts as well as from the crankcase. Blow compressed air through oil ducts in the flow direction of the engine oil.

Mount crankshaft bearing
1 Insert the upper crankshaft bearing shells (1) into the cylinder crankcase in such a way that the anti-twist locks (3) are locked in the notches of the cylinder crankcase.
Unlike the lower crankshaft bearing shells (4), the upper crankshaft bearing shells (1) have oil holes (arrows) and oil grooves (2).
2 Insert the lower crankshaft bearing shells (4) into the crankshaft bearing caps (6) or into the crankshaft fitted bearing cap in such a way that the anti-twist locks (5) are locked in the notches of the crankshaft bearing cap (6) or of the crankshaft fitted bearing cap.

3 Oil the crankshaft journal with engine oil and insert the crankshaft (9) in the cylinder crankcase.
4 Oil the upper thrust plates (8) with engine oil and insert them into the crankshaft fitted bearing in such a way that the oil grooves point towards the crank webs (10).

5 Insert the lower thrust plates (11) into the crankshaft fitted bearing cap (12) in such a way that the anti-twist locks (13) are locked in the slots (14).
The oil grooves (15) of the lower thrust plates (11) must point towards the crank webs (10).
6 Hold the lower thrust plates (11) and insert the crankshaft fitted bearing cap (12) in the cylinder crankcase.
7 Insert the crankshaft bearing caps (6) in the cylinder crankcase according to their marking.
